She accompanied me to buy more suitable and protective walking shoes and advised that I wear them 24-7 for two weeks. She also suggested I see a doctor to have a mild non-steroidal anti-inflammatory prescribed for 2 weeks and stay off my walking routine for the duration. I gradually eased into it after that. Control portion sizes; eat the smallest portion that can satisfy hunger and then stop eating. Have a small snack in between meals. You can eat yoghurt, nuts or a piece of fruit.

PRONE TO BREAKING BONES!
Our bones are in a constant state of renewal. Osteoporosis is a condition where our bones become weak and brittle because the process of replacing bone slows down and we are unable to produce new bone at the same speed as it is broken down. This usually starts to happen around the age of 30 resulting in Osteoporosis or lesser bone density, which makes us prone to breaks and fractures in the event of a fall.

SAGE Challenge offers functional training using a blend of cardio-vascular training and resistance training.
In a very simplified way, functional training aims at enabling you to do whatever you need/want to do in your life to the best of your abilities be it house chores, playing you’re your grandchildren or a game of golf.
You will not be using weights, dumbbells or machines when you start. You will only use resistance bands, Swiss balls and a trampoline. Your training will be geared to your level of fitness.
Trampolines are used to improve balance. All exercises on the trampoline are done with the full support of a hand rail.
If you have an medical conditions you are concerned about, I will ask for your permission to discuss matters with YOUR physician, in your presence, and get his/her approval of your training programme.
Only if and when your fitness level allows it.
No worries. You will not be expected to do anything that hurts. Several challenges can be improved and some pain relieved by special training targeted at your issues.
Any complaints or any condition that you might have like neck or knee pain, high cholesterol level or high blood sugar (Diabetes 2 only), is considered as a challenge. Feel free to bring up any issue you are concerned about and we can discuss it
You will be required to disclose any ongoing medical issues you have and list the medications you are on prior to training. This will be done using a health appraisal form.
